COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC:
Andrew Cernota, Chairman: Welcome everyone to the September meeting of the Cable Television Advisory Board. We'll begin with a roll call, although I don't believe that we have quorum at the moment. Steve Buxton is not here. Lauren Byers?
Lauren Byers: Here.
Andrew Cernota, Chairman: Andrew Cernota is here. Tim Cummings is not here. Patrick Hannon is not here. Jennifer McCormick is not here. Nick Miseirvitch.
Nick Miseirvitch, IT CIO: Here.
Andrew Cernota, Chairman: Cole Morgan.
Cole Morgan: Here.
Andrew Cernota, Chairman: Amber Morgan is not here. Emily Vasser is not here. And Oscar Villacis?
Oscar Villacis: Villacis.
Andrew Cernota, Chairman: Villacis.
Oscar Villacis: Here.
Andrew Cernota, Chairman: So again, we don't have a quorum, but we will do reports. Mr. Poehnert.
Jeff Poehnert, PEG Program Manager: Our current balance of the operating account 2505 is $223,195.04. Our expenses for August of 2026, and this includes salaries and facility operations total $36,222. We had 79, 176 cable casts in total between June and August. And of this, 143 were live events, and this split down to Public six, I'm sorry, Public 25, Education 40, and Government 1651, and our High Definition Channel 27. We had 5,291 playbacks, and of this, the Public had 2,677. Education 22 had 713, and Government 16 had 813. And our HD Channel, or High Definition Channel, had 1089.
We reported in June that the media controller for the in-room monitors and computers in the City Hall Auditorium was at its end of life and had to be replaced. On advice from the manufacturer, Extron, Keycode our vendor sent the dysfunctional controller to them, and they are going to be able to repair it for almost one quarter the price, for us replacing the system. So, we are awaiting delivery of the repair devices and Keycode will then reinstall the update and update the system.
Again, we didn't realize in June that Pete would be on vacation this week of September, so that's why we're having it here in the Chamber, and then we'll kind of eye December for us to have it in the studio. We've also not purchased our new field cameras as of yet, and we continue to research our best options both technically and budget-wise. Dan, do you have any update?
Dan Young: Dan Young, Nashua Community Media. We have actually looked at three different, well, several, but we've looked really close at three different cameras, a Canon, a Panasonic, and a Sony, and we were really happy with the Panasonic until we found out that one feature doesn't work in tandem with recording things. So, it looks currently like we're going to go with the Sony. I don't know the model number off the top of my head, but I know that Pete was working on getting an accurate quote prior or earlier this week, but we weren't able to get them in time.
Jeff Poehnert, PEG Program Manager: The Alliance for Community Media Northeast region is coming to Nashua this November. The annual conference and trade show will be held at the Sheraton Tara, November 16th to 18th. And although the conference pricing isn't available at this time we have some kind of an idea. I think it's $300 for the entire thing for the 16th through the 18th.
We hope to see some of the more Nashua Community Media and interested CTAB members to attend. There'll be single day and full day conference pricing. The event also includes the free RSVP admission to to Alliance for Community Media Northeast the Nor'Easter Video Awards presentation that showcases the best in pay access programming in New England and New York. Conference pricing should be available. If not, then we will provide, we'd like to see as many as possible as, as you people can attend, because it is right here in Nashua.
As we're now beginning the Fiscal Year 2028 budget season, we would like to open the discussion concerning this. Strictly from our point of view, we have maintained for many years that we should ask, as permitted in our current Franchise Agreement, for an increase to 5% up from our current 4%. While this will not solve the problem of customer migration on the streaming platforms and away from traditional cable, it will avoid asking the already strapped budgetary process of the city for help for at least one more year.
We realize this is kicking the can down the road, yet we do believe it's a viable option for continued, albeit temporary operational solvency. Further, we also understand that taking this path would be a legislative process culminating in the Board of Alderman debate. With that said, I would request all of us would request that we have a special meeting that we call for the budget discussion. You know, not today, but, have a specific meeting for that. And I would ask the Chairman if we could do that.
Andrew Cernota, Chairman: I think, especially given the fact that we don't have a quorum today, I think we'd have to do that.
Jeff Poehnert, PEG Program Manager: Okay.
Andrew Cernota, Chairman: Mr. Morgan?
Cole Morgan: Just want to say, first of all, I agree. That's a great idea. We should definitely have a special meeting, maybe even specifically about maybe even a subcommittee to plan the transition from traditional media to streaming media. It's an inevitable change that's going to have to happen. We should probably have a committee that focuses on that. And also, I have to head back to Downtown Improvement Committee. They just lost someone and they have to vote on something. And since we don't have quorum, I have to go vote over there.
Andrew Cernota, Chairman: Thank you.
Cole Morgan: Thank you, guys. Sorry.
Jeff Poehnert, PEG Program Manager: Well, thank you so much, Cole, for coming.
Dan Young: Dan Young, Nashua Community Media, going over the highlights for Nashua ETV. As you can see, Pete printed, and Pete included a list of, of all of our accomplishments over the last corner, but I'd like to point out, a couple in specific. In June, we covered the Nashua North and Nashua South graduations live from Stello's Stadium. We did some live coverage at the Nashua Public Library, of one of the concerts there, and we had done a second one, which I think these two got transposed, actually.
But in July, we did some 4th of July stuff. We covered the Spartans and the USA 250 Fireworks from Holman and the FCBL, the Silver Knights, they asked us if we would cover the All-Star game for them, and that was, fantastic. That was probably, that was a blast. I'm just going to put it there. You all should have been there to help us out because we could've used more hands. And that also included the Homerun Derby along with that.
And then in August, we started a new program called Aging Gracefully. We started recording that. We haven't been able to finish editing them up yet, but it is a show about elderly care and caring for your loved ones as they get older. So, and of course, all of the other games and fun stuff that we do. Thank you.
Andrew Cernota, Chairman: Thank you. Mr. Bartis.
Bob Bartis: Thank you. Bob Bartis on behalf of BRB TV. Mr. Poehnert covered our numbers for the month. We have continued to have the live cams that we have throughout the city that are available on the NPTV website that you can see anywhere in the world, which includes the Nashua Senior River, Center Cam, the Chamber of Commerce Bridge Cam, Nashua Library, the Mines Falls Park entrance, West Hollis Street, Main Street.
The Main Street camera is also now on the billboard slide on the channel. So, in between shows when we do the billboards, you'll see that Main Street camera, along with a date and time and weather app. We've continued with our live broadcast, each and every month, including, Mayor Donchess, AMR Director Chris Stawas, County Treasurer Dave Fredette, Nashua Fire Rescue Chief, Buxton and representatives from the Nashua Police Department.
And our live special events for the last quarter include the Nashua Pride Parade, Nashua Summer Stroll, the Renaissance Park Dedication, the Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Nashua Fire Rescue, Chief Glenn Telgen and the Greeley Park Art Show. And as always, our shows that are recorded get posted weekly on Apple and Roku.
Bob Bartis: Thank you.
Andrew Cernota, Chairman: Thank you. Do the members of the committee that are here have anything that they, any questions, comments?
Jeff Poehnert, PEG Program Manager: No.
Unknown Speaker: Nick does.
Andrew Cernota, Chairman: Nick.
Nick Miseirvitch, IT CIO: Thank you. Nick Miseirvitch. Just a question for Mr. Poehnert. On your budget sheet, the revenue incoming is $221,557.53. Is that one quarter's payment from the Franchise Fees?
Jeff Poehnert, PEG Program Manager: Well, that's not the Franchise Fee. That is our balance. Do you mean the, the current balance?
Nick Miseirvitch, IT CIO: No, I'm referring to the 221,000-
Jeff Poehnert, PEG Program Manager: No, I'm sorry. That is a quarterly Franchise Fee.
Nick Miseirvitch, IT CIO: And that's one quarter, quarterly payment?
Jeff Poehnert, PEG Program Manager: One quarter.
Nick Miseirvitch, IT CIO: Thank you.
Andrew Cernota, Chairman: Any other question?
Unknown Speaker: A question for Mr. Poehnert. And that is presently at the 4%?
Jeff Poehnert, PEG Program Manager: That's presently at the 4%, correct.
Unknown Speaker: Okay. So, if I'm doing the math, it's four times two and a quarter.
Jeff Poehnert, PEG Program Manager: Yeah.
Unknown Speaker: Okay.
Jeff Poehnert, PEG Program Manager: Yeah.
Andrew Cernota, Chairman: Any other questions? Comments? All right. Since we've already touched on the Community Media conference and the budget that would be under new business, but we don't have a quorum to vote on anything there, is there any discussion of either of those items that people want to have? If not, we'll probably pick that up at the special meeting that we'll have to call.
There are no members of the public present, so public comment. Remarks by members? All right. If there are no remarks by members, is there a final motion? Well, I guess we don't even need a final motion because we don't have a quorum to vote on it. Then I will ask everyone to remember those that, died on 9/11 since this is the anniversary and then we'll be adjourned.
Thank you, everyone.
